How To Play

SQORP! is a short puzzle game about filling a board with tiles. Your objective is to play 24 tiles in the grid, so they match. Use the arrow keys to move the current tile, and Z to place it.

You can rotate a tile to make it match its neighbours better. Press X to rotate. You will receive four copies of each permutation of colours, so use them carefully!

When you place a tile, each side that doesn't match its neighbour will cost you one life. Lives will flash red to let you know the current tile placement would cause loss.

The bar at the bottom is your turn timer. If the timer reaches zero, you lose three lives. The timer is refreshed each time you place a tile. If it runs out, you can spend all the time you want to place the tile.

About The Game

This game is inspired by a mathematical puzzle set by Ivan Moscovich, which I adapted with timing and scoring systems. Thanks to Gruber and adamatomic for providing useful PICO-8 insights, and to all my friends who playtested earlier versions.
